Society Bands

What's a Society Band?

Each semester the student body of the college is split up into four different teams called “Society Bands.” These groups compete and challenge each other all semester in several different areas.

Groups take part in sports, singing, preaching, photo editing, and other unique areas of talent and gifts for team points. Teams are also given points for areas of ministry, soulwinning, baptisms and visitors brought to church.

Society band competitions take place every other Monday in place of regular scheduled classes. On the off week, a one-hour society band chapel competition is held, and the remainder of the day is freed up for student study and personal errands.

Why Society Bands?

Those called to preach have an opportunity to take part in their calling while attending college rather than graduating and never having had a chance to develop and deliver Bible messages.

The "off Mondays" allow college students extra study time and free time in the midst of the busy college life. Students also find it nice to have a day that allows them to get refocused after a busy weekend of ministry.

Students find an immediate opportunity to put their talents and gifts to use while they study for future ministry. One of the benefits of the Grace Baptist College Society Bands is that many different singing groups are developed. This provides many students opportunities to minister rather than just a few select singers or tour groups.
